Eligibility Requirements
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time student.
- Have submitted a paper to the section to which applying for presentation at the 2008 National Biotechnology Conference.
- Have been a member of AAPS since at least January 2008 with primary membership in the section to which you are applying.
(Please make certain your primary section is correctly identified in the AAPS database by contacting AAPS Membership at 1-877-998-2277.)
- Have no other means of supplemental support to attend the meeting.
- Be traveling more than 300 miles (one way from his/her academic institution) to attend the meeting.
BIOTEC Section Eligibility Requirements
In addition to the general requirements listed above, the following apply:
- Must be a primary member of the BIOTEC Section.
- Abstract primary authorship must be in the field of biotechnology.
- Recipients must be present to give talk and to receive the award.
PPDM Section Eligibility Requirements
In addition to the general requirements listed above, the following apply:
- Must have primary membership in PPDM.
- Must be first author of abstract.
- One abstract submission per PPDM member.
- Submit a full abstract with title, authors, and text, and complete the online travelship application form.
- High scientific merit.
- Multiple abstracts from one laboratory may be submitted, but only one award will be given to each laboratory, and no more than two awards may be given to any single institution.
- Applicants whose submitted papers are not accepted by the Paper Screening Committee will be removed from the eligible pool before the award selections are made.
- Applicants are only allowed to accept one travelship to the conference.
- Recipients will be randomly selected from all applicants that meet the eligibility requirements.
Reimbursement will be issued to the selected individuals following the
conference upon receipt of documented meeting expenses (e.g., copy of
airline ticket, hotel and meal receipts, etc.).
2008 Amgen Travelships

Six travelships are available at $500 for graduate/undergraduate students.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time student.
- Have a paper accepted by one of the eight AAPS sections for presentation at the 2008 National Biotechnology Conference which the student will be presenting.
- Have been a member of AAPS since at least January 2008.
- Have no other means of supplemental support to attend the meeting.
- Be traveling more than 200 miles (one way from his/her academic institution to attend the meeting).
- Applicants whose submitted papers are not accepted by the Paper Screening Committee will be removed from the eligible pool before the award selections are made.
- Applicants are only allowed to accept one travelship to the annual meeting.
- Recipients will be selected from all the applicants meeting the eligibility requirements.
