Research integrity is a fundamental component of scientific research outcomes. More importantly, in the areas of health, pharmaceutical, and biomedical research, ethical and honest research is essential to successful control or treatment of human disease states. However, in recent years, several incidents of research misconduct have led to concerns that a large body of less than authentic scientific works is published undetected. This raises the question whether scientists are aware of the consequences of research misconduct in terms of its effects on society and individual scientists. This roundtable session will discuss the viewpoints of the editor, publisher, and federal funding agency. The participants are encouraged to discuss their concerns with the speakers during the session.
