This session will explore the use of medical imaging in drug discovery and development. The importance of this technology is underscored by the dramatic changes in the drug discovery and development model that have occurred over the last decade. From discovery to marketing, the process takes longer, costs are higher and fewer drugs are approved, making it difficult and in some cases nearly impossible to recoup the investment. For this reason, companies that will survive in this new environment must find innovative methods to identify viable product candidates, condense development processes, reduce costs and create value for drugs to be marketable. One proven and very efficient method to succeed in this new environment is through the utilization of medical imaging in drug discovery and development programs. This Hot Topic Session will focus on a review of imaging options and will highlight examples of how imaging reduced development time, costs, and added value to compounds. You will not want to miss this hot topic.
