Purpose and Description
There are usually a number of abstracts submitted for publication through the DDD section from researchers doing basic and applied research in computational drug design research, pharmacologically relevant biomolecular simulation, QSAR, QSPR and predictive ADMET. Many of these researchers elect to attend the AAPS Annual Meeting from countries outside of the United States to present their work.
In the recent past researchers have made significant strides in developing predictive computational methodologies that show promise in impacting every stage of the Pharmaceutical R&D pipeline. The Computational Drug Design Focus Group would serve as a forum where these emerging technologies—which are currently being discussed in computational and bioinformatics journals—can be brought to a wider audience.
The Computational Drug Design Focus Group, in partnership with the DDD Section, would engage them and invite them to be recognized through program planning at the AAPS Annual Meeting. Through section and focus group business meetings and focus group leadership meetings, this focus group would provide a forum for discussion among researchers engaged in basic scientific work in computational drug design, and serve as an outlet to connect with members of other sections and focus groups with complementary interests in the field.
The Computational Drug Design Focus Group, in partnership with the DDD Section, would invite and encourage the participation of graduate students engaged in computational drug design research, pharmacologically relevant biomolecular simulation, QSAR, QSPR and predictive ADMET, in the US and abroad, to submit their work for presentation at the AAPS Annual Meeting and other conferences sponsored in whole or in part by AAPS.
Members of the Computational Drug Design Focus Group would be invited to submit their ideas in planning workshops, roundtables and other events on the topic of computational drug design as they relate to the interests of the DDD Section, other sections and other focus groups within AAPS.
In addition to the publication of abstracts submitted by members of the Computational Drug Design and approved for presentation, the Focus Group would contribute to special publications resulting from the offering of special events sponsored in whole or in part with other associations, agencies and societies (with their permission, when required).
The Computational Drug Design Focus Group, in partnership with the DDD Section, would engage the partnership of other associations, agencies and societies, whose focus involves research in computational chemistry, in planning special events at various times throughout the year at various locations in the US and abroad.
