Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Student Chapter

Chapter Information

The AAPS-Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) Student Chapter was created in December 2004 after considerable interest and involvement from students at the university. The chapter’s primary objective is to get the word out about the pharmaceutical sciences graduate program at the MCPHS and enrich the academic experience of its members by being a socially active and professionally responsible organization.

The chapter is looking forward to working in close cooperation with other AAPS student chapters and MCPHS faculty to promote graduate student participation in AAPS activities at the local, regional and national levels. The chapter aims to encourage the professional development of its members, advance the awareness of professions in the pharmaceutical sciences, and strengthen social skills and interaction among its members. Specific chapter objectives include:

  • Provide a rich learning environment that is conducive to research with an emphasis on developing an open atmosphere for graduate student scientific and social interaction.
  • Increase awareness of career options in the pharmaceutical sciences and prepare students for employment in the pharmaceutical industry by sponsoring guest lecturers, career development programs, trips to student-initiated events, weekly happy hours and annual chapter picnics.
  • Bring the community up-to-date on pharmaceutical sciences research through cutting-edge seminars and symposia.
  • Initiate an effort to collaborate with nearby colleges of pharmacy and organize poster and podium presentations.
  • Spearhead a collective effort to increase awareness of the pharmaceutical sciences by getting the word out to undergraduate students, with the hopes of providing them with a graduate studies and career option they may not have considered.
