Chapter Information

The AAPS-University of Michigan Student Chapter aims to enrich the academic experience of its members by being a socially active and professionally responsible organization. The chapter provides many opportunities for graduate program students to interact socially because they believe that strengthening social skills is important for building personal and professional networks for the future. To help incoming graduate students make the transition to graduate school life, the chapter creates an Essential Pharmaceutics Survival Guide, updated annually. While distributing the guide, chapter members encourage new graduate students to join the student chapter.

The chapter also encourages scientific exchange through planning and attending scientific conferences. Each year all chapter members attend the Pharmaceutics Graduate Student Research Meeting (PGSRM) to meet fellow students in the Midwest and highlight their research. The chapter’s Pharmaceutical Sciences Awareness Program targets outreach to undergraduate students and the chapter also plans to do outreach at surrounding high schools. The chapter has organized a Pharmaceutics Journal Club and worked with Pfizer to develop a mentoring program for University of Michigan students. The chapter also coordinates and sponsors a technical communication workshop.
