GRASP
GRASP is considered a non-profit organization that is designed and implemented entirely
by graduate students in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences in order to facilitate
educational development. This is achieved by providing an arena for open interchange
of scientific knowledge and ideas through poster and podium presentations. The meeting
also gives the opportunity for networking and mentoring amongst students and faculty.
In addition to these activities, career development workshops and guest lectures
are incorporated to meet the career needs of graduate students. This conference,
organized entirely by graduate students, provides an opportunity for pharmacy graduate
students from across the country to come share their work, meet potential employers,
and learn from the pioneers in the fields of pharmacy and pharmaceutics. This event
is also aimed at promoting networking amongst the graduate students and giving them
a chance to build valuable ties with their peers.

Kyoto University was proud to host the 2004 Globalization of Pharmaceutics Education
Network (GPEN) meeting May 26–28, 2004 in Kyoto, Japan. Since its founding in 1996,
GPEN has biennially held major conferences to foster and facilitate scientific exchange
among graduate students in the fields of pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics at an
international level. These conferences serve as a premier meeting ground and forum
for pharmaceutical sciences research and education, providing 38 institutions with
an arena for graduate students to share new ideas, hear international leaders in
various research specialties, and network with current and future pharmaceutical
scientists from industry and academia. These conferences draw pharmaceutical scientists
