AAPS MemberNet is a new addition to the AAPS Pharmaceutica that will give members an additional way to identify and connect with other members with like interests, in similar jobs/fields or who attend the same AAPS events. MemberNet is a social networking application that facilitates (in cyberspace) the connecting that naturally occurs in the “real-world” at conventions, chapter meetings and cocktail parties.
What is a Social Networking Application?
Social Networking Applications are sophisticated programs designed to help like minded individuals find other people with the same interests, occupations or affiliations. And these applications provide practical ways for users to connect with people they want to collaborate with or meet in the real world.
How is a Social Networking Application different from an online directory?
Most directories, including the current AAPS Member Directory, only allow members to find each other based on name, geographic area, and perhaps section information. Social Networking Applications like MemberNet provide a way to mine the conections between your friends, your friends friends, etc. to give visibility to people you may not even know were in your immediate “4 degree network”.
How can I sign-up?
AAPS MemberNet can be accessed from the "My AAPS" webpage. AAPS members should get started with the system immediately by filling out their online profile and inviting their friends and colleagues to “connect up”.
